Memorandum that the ninth day of January, 1653, before Henry Jenken Esq., Mayor, James Stiles, Stephen Chapman, Israel Wynter and John Medgett, Jurats and Justices of the Peace, cometh Richard Ladd, beer brewer, and acknowledges himself to owe the Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland and Irelad and the dominions thereunto belonging the sum of ten pounds.

It is to be remembered that the 14th day of October, 1654, before Thomas Inmith Esq., Mayor, and the Jurats, cometh Richard Ladd, beer brewer, and is bound in ten pounds.

The sessions of the 19th October 1654 are adjourned until Monday, the 27th of November at which day it is ordered by the Court that from and after this day fortnight the Common Brewer of this town shall make beer not above nine shillings a butt to the victuallers, besides the excise, upon penalty of the Statute.

And they present Mr. Mayor, Mr. Chapman and Richard Ladd, for not selling beer according to the statute. 14th November, 1652, he appeared and submitted himself to the Court for the time past, whereupon he was fined 1s. for example`s sake.

It is to be remembered that the 15th day of October, 1655, before John Medgett Esq., Mayor of the town of Folkestone, and the Jurats of the same, cometh Richard Ladd, beer brewer, acknowledgeth himself to owe ten pounds.

It is to be remembered that the 13th day of October, 1656, before Israel Winter Esq., Mayor, and the Jurats, cometh Richard Ladd, beer brewer, and acknowledgeth himself to owe the sum of ten pounds.
